We intend to attack the issues of dog overpopulation by providing two very important components:
Transport
Our plan is to rescue dogs from high-kill shelters in North Carolina, and from the Turks & Caicos Islands, and transport them to no-kill rescue organizations in other areas, where they can be re-homed. SAVEDOG Project plans to specialize in addressing this weak link in the adoption process – transporting “death row” dogs from kill shelters located in areas of “high supply/low demand” in North & South Carolina and the Turks & Caicos Islands, to areas of “low supply/high demand” in the Northeast, and other select areas in the United States.
Spay & Neuter
Killing dogs is the NOT the only solution to pet over-population. Our mission is to end the suffering of innocent dogs by reducing the number of unwanted births by supporting an intelligent program of Spay/Neuter. SAVEDOG will also help fund spay/neuter efforts in the Turks & Caicos Islands, and local communities in rural North Carolina to facilitate low/no cost spay & neuter services for low-income families, in the hopes of reducing unwanted births and less intakes at the already overcrowded animal shelters. In 6 years, one unspayed female dog and her offspring, can reproduce 67,000 dogs.
